We are continuing on with our work around The Gingerbread Man and at the end of the week the children will take home several things they have made during this unit of work.
We are also continuing to learn about the Christian celebration of Christmas and The Nativity story and the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah. We are very keen for the children to be proud of their own cultures and family traditions and a Home Learning project will come home this week for over the holidays and we hope it will encourage the children to share different family celebrations with us.
We are continuing on with the Abracadabra Family letters. We have now learnt all of this family of letters for formation – c, a, d, g, q, o, s – we say…
c – pull around, down, push (this starts every letter in this family).
a – pull around, down, push, up (like a helicopter), down, bump, flick.
d – pull around, down, push, up (like a helicopter with a big engine), down, bump, flick.
g – pull around, down, push, up (like a helicopter), down, on down, pull around for a tail.
q- pull around, down, push, up (like a helicopter), down, on down, flick.
o – pull around, down, push up and stop, flick.
s – write a small c (pull around, down, push) and pull round.
We are now focusing on using these formations in our day to day writing and will be practising writing these letters within words, not just as a handwriting task.
