Mrs Walton / Ms Birch’s phonics group – will be recapping all sounds known and will be moving onto Phase 3. They will learn j, v, w, x sounds. These children will also be learning the alphabet song and learning the letter names and matching them with the capital letters. The children will bring home the Phase 3 Phonics Booklet so you can continue to learn the sounds and tricky words at home.
We will be practising the Abracadabra and Jumper Families which the children are familiar with. We will also be learning how to write ‘e’ using a Squirter story and beginning to learn letter formations from the Window Cleaner family.
We are going to be continuing exploring our new resource of Numicon in the environment to develop our number sense. We are also going to be using practical fun activities for addition of two numbers to find a total.
In writing this week we are writing sentences in past tense. We are focusing on simple sentence construction and the use of capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
We are going to be learning how to use powder paint to colour mix. We’ll be learning how to set up our painting work space, how to look after the paint brushes, how to mix the paint to get a good thickness.
Key Skills Books
This week we will be introducing the children to their Key Skills Books, which they will use to complete their Home Learning and communicate to us about completion of tasks. We will send the Key Skills Books home once the children know about the use of them. Please read the instruction page, at the front of the book, carefully and then you can start to complete some of the tasks at home. These Key Skills tasks are in addition to the usual weekly reading books, phonic booklets and coloured word cards.
Stay and Play
Stay and Play is on as usual this Wednesday between 8.45 and 9.15am. We hope you can join us.
It is the turn of Simba class to attend Forest School this coming Wednesday.
Sounds a lot doesn’t it?! Remember this list of learning when your little one answers “What did you do at school today?” with “Nothing / Just played / can’t remember!”
